Spataro Repuestos

Description

Spataro Repuestos is a Neuquén auto-parts business specialising in Toyota, with a long track record and two very different sales channels: the end customer who needs one part for their vehicle, and the workshop or parts shop buying in volume on account. They have sold on Mercado Libre since 2014.

Selling parts online has a difficulty of its own: the buyer is not looking for a product, they are looking for the part that fits their vehicle. A brake disc for a 2005-2015 Hilux does not fit a 2016 Hilux. If the store does not solve that compatibility, the customer picks up the phone and the store was pointless.

Challenge

There was an earlier wholesale-oriented platform and a strong Mercado Libre operation, but no channel of their own carrying both businesses at once. The wholesaler needs to see their own price list, not the shop-window one; the retail buyer needs to buy and pay on the spot.

The catalogue was the other problem: some ten thousand unique parts, each with a manufacturer code, brand, dimensions and compatibility by model, engine and year. That volume is not loaded or maintained by hand: prices and stock live in the company’s management system, and if the store does not read them from there, within a week it is selling what it does not have.

Solution

We built two stores on a single catalogue, each on its own domain. The retail one sells with online payment and normal shipping. The wholesale one works with validated accounts and customer tiers: each tier carries its own price list, discounts and commercial terms, and the order closes by bank transfer with logistics to be arranged — which is how the trade actually works.

The big work is the part you cannot see: parameterising the database. The ten thousand parts were migrated from the previous platform and each one was tagged with its brand, the models it fits, the engine size, the years and the manufacturer code. Without that groundwork a vehicle search does not exist, because there is nothing to search against.

On top of that database sits the search, the heart of the site: the customer picks brand, model and vehicle, and sees only what fits. And the store is wired to the company’s own ERP — prices and stock come down from the management system, orders go up from the store — so the catalogue keeps itself current.

  • Two stores on their own domains, retail and wholesale, on a single catalogue
  • Tiered B2B accounts, each with its own price list and terms
  • A 10,000-part database parameterised by brand, model, engine size and year
  • Vehicle search built on top of that parameterisation
  • Product page with manufacturer code, brand, dimensions and fitments
  • Price and stock sync with the ERP, and orders back
  • Abandoned-cart recovery and direct contact over WhatsApp

Impact

The project started in late October 2025 and both stores went live in April 2026, with weekly reviews throughout development.

Spataro no longer depends on someone else’s channel to sell online. The wholesaler goes to their own domain, sees their prices and builds the order alone; the retail buyer finds the part that fits without picking up the phone. And the catalogue stays current because it is not maintained: it is read from the system the company already worked with.
